Junior claim cup at Gerry Reynolds tournament

Our Junior boys got right down to action today by winning the Gerry Reynolds Memorial tournament.

Co Down, Co Armagh, Cherry Orchard, FSA, Sheffield Wednesday Development Wexford and Dundalk took part in the competition, held at St Genevieve’s Secondary School in West Belfast.

Gary McAlister’s team beat Cherry Orchard 3-0 in the first game thanks to goals from Ben Hollinger (2) and Jonah Heron.

That took them to the final where they defeated FSA 4-1 with Bailey Locke, Jay Boyd, Owen Madine and James Clarke all on the scoresheet.

Bailey Locke was named the Down player of the tournament. #DownDream18

Become a sponsor

We’re currently preparing for the 2018 tournament, with the final squad selections to be made soon. From that point on, the hard work begins – for the players in getting ready for competition, and for the committee in financing all aspects of our participation.

We start from scratch each year, with no direct funding and it is only through the support of local businesses that we are able to fund trials and training costs, kit and equipment purchase as well as accommodation for tournament week.

The tournament takes place between 22nd-27th July and we provide full coverage of our progress via our website and social media channels. As you are aware from last year, the wider media coverage is excellent too from daily newspaper round-ups to online BBC match coverage. Last year one of our Junior team matches was streamed live by the BBC.

Right now we’re asking you to consider supporting our boys this year. Read about our sponsorship packages here
